Cheap The French Women Don't Get Fat Cookbook

Mireille Guilian shares stories of her family meals and even her secret family recipe for breakfast that she says will melt pounds away.
The recipes she gives are not that hard, there are good explanations that an organized determined beginning cook could complete. Recipes are different but interesting, for example: endive with green tomato jam, chicken with spinach en papillote, of course crepes, sardines tartines, simple ratatouille.
The sample menus tell the philosophy of how the French eat. There is even a chapter on champagne and cooking with it
The book contains: breakfast and le brunch, lunch, dinner, fish, vegetables, desserts.
This is not a basic cookbook. It is a lesson on a way of life, the more continental, European way of eating. If you want to learn how, this will accomplish that.Get more detail about The French Women Don't Get Fat Cookbook.

Buy Raising a Sensory Smart Child

I have read this book from cover to cover. It is a great tool to have in your arsenal to help your child with SPD! I think that if you have this book and the out-of-sync child has fun you have a winning combination! This book was a much easier to understand synopsis of SPD, how to deal with it and how to help your child learn to live with it than the original book Out-Of-Sync child. A definite must have for teachers, parents and others who have to deal with children with SPD!Get more detail about Raising a Sensory Smart Child.

Purchase The UltraMetabolism Cookbook: 200 Delicious Recipes that Will Turn on Your Fat-Burning DNA

I don't know where I've been without this diet and this cookbook.
I wake up feeling refreshed and "alive". I get to sleep easier than I ever have in my life. I no longer feel irritable after work if I've had a long day, it's as if my battery keeps going non-stop. I feel clear-headed, as if before this I was suffering from what Dr. Hyman called 'brain fog'. I have no more stomach pains or headaches and have lost all interest in every purchasing fast food again. (I tried 1/2 a cheeseburger from McDs after I finished the actual diet and my body felt terrible afterwards.) Processed food tastes so different now (if I ever snack on it, which is not often) because it tastes fake, salty, oily, and just plain gross. I am so used to eating whole, real foods that I don't feel cravings for other things. A craving for sugar sends me to the fruit basket and it's absolute heaven! (who thought a fresh mango would be as delicious as a bowl of ice cream?) These are only a handful of the pluses. I was very thin to begin with, I had started the diet just to feel better but I can see how easy it is to lose weight on it.

I highly recommend giving this book (and the original "ultra metabolism" book) a chance and trying things you could have never imagined yourself to, especially since the meals don't taste like diet food. There are grains out there like like Quinoa, Buckwheat, Amaranth, etc. that I've never heard of before this and are not absolute staples for my kitchen.
I've brought many recipes to family functions and people can hardly tell it's all 'healthy' stuff. (:

Here are a few of the recipes I've really enjoyed. (If you have purchased the book and made your own, could you include a list in your comment of the recipes you've liked/disliked as well?)
-Quinoa & Garbanzo Bean Salad *
-Roasted Tomato Soup
-Black Bean Soup
-Curried Waldorf Salad
-Grilled Shrimp Brochettes *
-Pan-Browned Tilapia
-Scallops Poached in Thai Coconut Curry Broth *
-Middle Eastern Lamb Patties *
-Grilled Ginger Herbed Chicken Breasts
-Turkey & Red Bean Chili *
-Chicken Cacciatore *
-Coconut Dal **
-Braised Kale w/Mushrooms
-Southwestern Corn & Black Bean Salad *
-Cajun Black-Eyed Peas
-Crispy Pan-Roasted Red Potatoes
-Roasted Sweet Potatoes (My FAVORITE!) ***
-Hot Buckwheat, Banana, Flax & Walnuts
-Apple-Walnut Amaranth
-Curried Deviled Eggs w/Cashews (I made this into an egg salad, yum)
-Cranberry-Apricot Bulgur Salad
-Cranberry-Apple Acorn Squash *

The Sound of Hope: Recognizing, Coping with, and Treating Your Child's Auditory Processing Disorder

As a veteran elementary school principal, I have witnessed the frustration felt by children diagnosed with Auditory Processing Disorder, their parents' concerns, as well as the helplessness felt by their classroom teachers who have difficulty understanding and addressing the disorder.
Lois Heymann's book speaks to these issues in language that is clear and easy to understand. Both she and Rosie provide the reader with information and vignettes built upon first hand experiences and Ms. Heymann's expertise as a higly respected speech pathologist/auditory therapist. The Sound of Hope offers proven strategies to support learning and understanding,advice and suggestions for parents (and educators), as well as a myriad of resources to explore.

The UltraSimple Diet: Kick-Start Your Metabolism and Safely Lose Up to 10 Pounds in 7 Days This instant

I read couple of reviews... I bought the book... it arrived.

I went straight to page 130, "Day 1 of The UltraSimple Diet". And here it is...

1. Wake up 2 hours prior to leaving the house. (Okay... maybe...)
2. 2tbs olive oil mixed with a juoce of half of lemon. 1tbs of poder vitamin C and 8oz of water. (Fine... cleansing...)
3. 20-60 minutes yoga. (Is this the simple part?)
4. Breakfast. Juice from half of lemon with hot water. 1 cup of green tea. 2 capsules of probiotic and 2 capsules of liver supportive herbs. UltraShake. If no bowel movement take laxative. (wow... I am a little concerned now...)
5. Snack. 1 cup UltraBroth and another UltraShake. (Easy... yeah right)
6. Lunch. 2 capsules of magnesium citrate. 2 cups of steamed vegies. 1/2 cup brown rice. 1/2 cup of fruit. UltraShake. (Ok, got it. Vegies, rice and fruit. Why the other junk?)
7. Snack. 1 cup of UltraBroth. UltraShake. 30 minute walk. (Not too bad... but why all the Ultra* stuff)
8. Before dinner. 30 minute walk. Sauna or steam room. 20 minutes yoga. (LOL. Who needs diet with this...)
9. Dinner. 2 capsules brobiotic. 2 capsules liver detox. 2 cups steamed veggies. 1/2 cup brown rice. 6oz chicken, fish or tofu. 1 cup UltraBroth. (a little too much additives for such a simpel diet, don't you think?)
10. Bedtime. 20 minutes yoga. 2 capsules of laxative. 2 capsules of magnesium citrate. 20 minutes UltraBath. (aren't you glad the day is done. ;) )

So here is the conclusion. Yoga and laxatives and you'll lose weight.... or just from the headache of following this supposedly Ultra Simple diet you are bound to lose weight.

Unless you are a phsyco with everything scheduled in your life than this book is not for you!Get more detail about The UltraSimple Diet: Kick-Start Your Metabolism and Safely Lose Up to 10 Pounds in 7 Days.

Low Price Overcoming Dyslexia: A New and Complete Science-Based Program for Reading Problems at Any Level

Words Aren't Fair

By Martha J. Biery

Sally Shaywitz's book is my bible, literally. I test children with reading disorders and as most of them have varying degrees of dyslexia, this book has saved me hundreds of hours of explanation with these children's parents. I ask the parents to read my report and then buy the book and meet with me after they read it. This book is a blessing!

In my meetings, I specifically address why their child is having difficulty storing words in long term memory and I refer to Sally's explanation. This helps the parents understand the need for a sequential, phonics-based reading program for their child. Just knowing that their child is not learning because he/she doesn't process sounds effectively gives the parents hope that their child will "get it" with the right intervention. Additionally, I love that Sally has put in a chapter about how a child can become his/her own advocate.Get more detail about Overcoming Dyslexia: A New and Complete Science-Based Program for Reading Problems at Any Level.

The author, Victoria Boutenko, writes to grab the reader and make you want to learn more. she presents her material and research in a very simply and understandable manner, however she shows how everything is backed up 100%. This book really made me realize that the health that i wanted was so simple. it all make sense and is simply logic on why so many people are unhealthy and diseased. if oyu have ever taken a biology or anatomy or nutrition class, you can see where all of her theories and research fit in. she is not just a Kook writing whatever she wants and saying it's factual. she has done her research and has her own family and friends and test subjects as real-life examples to prove it. i recommend this book to anyone who is mildly interested in improving their health in a simple manner. By the way, i have never been severely unhealthy, with the exception of childhood asthma nor have i ever been overweight. i eat a vegan diet now and exercise regularly. I'm sure many people who click on this probably do or plan to live a healthy life. i have blood tests that state that my physical well being was great previous to trying Boutenko's green smoothies and i still can feel a vibrancy and energy that I've never felt before. it truly is a difference of surviving life and living it. i feel like nothing can stop me. if you don't want to commit, may i suggest renting this book at your public library first. that's what i did. and afterward i came online and bought it. i really love it. good luck with your health!

The Mystery Method: How to Get Beautiful Women Into Bed Review

When I first saw Mystery on the show The Pick Up Artist, I thought he looked like a cross between a dungeon master and a skinny, flaming homosexual. It was very hard to get over that thought while watching the show, but reading the book is different mostly because you don't have to deal with his image in it. I mean, the man wears goggles in nightclubs--like that Kenny kid from the movie Can't Hardly Wait. I don't even know if motorcycle riders would wear their goggles in a nightclub if they rode their bikes to get there. But I guess in the wide open industry of Pick Up, (where two of the gurus look alike and even have similiar sounding names) its good to have a visual hook to get people to gravitate to you and your products.

The book is geared more toward 20 somethings who are active in the club scene, or want to be, but I think just about every guy can get something out of it. It was nice how the book went into more of the "nuts and bolts" of social interaction and gave some actual examples rather than vague ideas/theories and no "blueprints" like many books do.Get more detail about The Mystery Method: How to Get Beautiful Women Into Bed.

Juice Fasting and Detoxification: Use the Healing Power of Fresh Juice to Feel Young and Look Great : The Fastest Way to Restore Your Health Top Quality

I'm into the health food movement like a lot of people nowdays. Unfortunately most books and programs don't cover all of the many ways to get and stay healthy. Although the above book listed is an excellent resource. It's like most authors and programs are trying to be too pc (politically correct). To correct myself a little, most health advice, programs, books and supplements usually offer pretty good advice these days.You know:
1. Don't alcohol
2. Don't abuse drugs
3. Don't smoke (cigaretts and the like)
4. Eat move live fresh fruits and vegetables.
5. Eat less process foods and meats.
Now all of this is good advice, although there is a right way and wrong way to do anything. I saw an excellent book with a good 8 step plan. The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs : How to Be Insanely Great in Front of Any Audience Immediately

Presenting is something that we all have to do as health professionals at one stage or another.

Carmine Gallo is a columnist at [...] and discusses how we can all use the strategies that Steve Jobs' has used, to engage a generation and build a brand - not only the apple brand, but the Steve Jobs' brand. We all can't wear blue jeans, sneakers and a black turtleneck - but we can all make an impact on stage.

Carmine deconstructs the art that is Steve Jobs' presenting into science and strategies that we can all master.

The book is comprehensive while being concise. He outlines nine parts to a great presentation

* Short (twitter-like) headines
* Passion statements
* Three key messages
* Metaphors and analogies
* Demonstrations
* Case Studies
* Video Clips
* Props

He writes about the importance of keeping messages simple and the impact that the element of surprise can bring to your presentations.

Like any expert in presentation skills, Carmine suggests that practice makes perfect, citing Malcolm Gladwell's outliers' ten thousand hours to mastery, as a goal for perfection. He suggests that videoing yourself can help you rehearse and manage your body language, vocal delivery and energy.

Relevance for Health Professionals

The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs is a great book for any health professional looking at improving their presentation skills. One thing I think that is particularly helpful for health professionals, is the prescriptive nature of the book which seems to appeal to us science types. That being said, the book is an easy read and incorporates the techniques described in the book, such as using plenty of examples, case studies, metaphors and analogies to engage the reader.

The book can be read all at once, or by focusing on specific sections that you want to work on. You can work on one area at a time, master that point and start to incorporate the next strategy.

The book has ideas about being more persuasive and engaging audiences to change. By implementing these strategies, we can all promote better health to our clients and communities we work in.

Carmine Gallo's suggestions are sure to increase your confidence when presenting as a health professional.Get more detail about The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs : How to Be Insanely Great in Front of Any Audience.

Low Price The Celestine Prophecy

Some may enjoy this New Age novel for its kitsch appeal but for me, it is so poorly concieved and poorly written that I just couldn't finish it.

Just one example: one of the main premises of the book is that throughout the world, "coincidences are happening more and more." No particular reason was given for this assertion. The main character didn't seem to have a coince-a-meter in his pocket so as to measure the relative proportion of coincidences over time. But no matter - he bases major decisions about his life's direction on his unquestioning belief in the increased incidents of coincidences.

Cheapest Happy: Simple Steps to Get the Most Out of Life

I heard about this book while listening to "The Steve Harvey Morning Show," and I was interested in what made Dr. Smith write something other than diet books. I got a copy of the book and from beginning to end, I enjoyed it. He wrote about being a workaholic and having somewhat of an addiction to technology, two traits in which I have. At the same time I was reading this book, I switched cable, phone and Internet providers so I went a week with a quiet home. But the more time I was off the computer the more I realized I was enjoying myself. And in the book, he recommends stepping away from technology long enough to hang out with family, enjoy the beach and have time to really relax. I did all of the above and had a good time hanging out at the lakefront every day checking out this book. (He lost me with NOT speeding on Lake Shore Drive though. I'd have honked at him.) The activities are as intriguing as the storytelling text and advice, and I completed most of them in my journal. I also went around asking family and co-workers their responses, too, because I was curious what makes other people happy. It's fascinating to find out just how much we miss out on worried about things going wrong instead of focusing on what's going right. Great read indeed.Get more detail about Happy: Simple Steps to Get the Most Out of Life.

Cheap The New ME Diet: Eat More, Work Out Less, and Actually Lose Weight While You Rest

I recently purchased a few books on nutrition and learned a great many things about how to eat right and use food in a way that's conducive to weight loss by sticking to foods that are low on the Glycemic Index. The New ME Diet doesn't reference the GI specifically, but its eating plan is very similar in principle. What this new book has that my other books do not is a comprehensive exercise plan that works in tandem with the eating plan.

The fact is, folks, there's just no getting around working out if you have significant weight to lose otherwise you'll end up with loose skin and zero muscle tone or definition if you diet alone. The best thing about the ME plan is that all you need to get a fantastic workout is a couple of dumbbells. There are no massive machines or expensive accessories that you need to purchase and you don't even have to join a gym. The ME diet also dispels the myth that cardio exercise alone is the key to fat loss.

If you're looking for another "fad diet", look elsewhere. If you're looking to make lifestyle changes that are long overdue, The New ME Diet will give you all the tools you need to start improving your quality of life in a sustainable manner. I'd like to close by offering my humble thanks to the authors for putting together such an excellent book that has completely changed my approach to healthy living.Get more detail about The New ME Diet: Eat More, Work Out Less, and Actually Lose Weight While You Rest.

I became a runner later in life and started running because it is inexpensive and convenient. I have been an intermediate runner for the last 4 years and have completed 2 half-marathons. Last year I hit a rut and lost my motivation to run. I enjoy the feeling of running consistently and needed something to help me get back into running again.
