Cheap Heroes for My Son

I thought I'd buy one for each of my two littlest grandchildren but thought it best to buy only one at first to see what I thought of it ...... and I'm so glad I did!

Eleanor Roosevelt's caption ends with that dreaded phrase, "social justice", the tip off that there might be socialism (or worse) afoot, so at this point, I became wary.

Then further into the book, I see our president listed as one of the heros, and the text describes his father merely as, an "economist", and his mother, as a "girl from Kansas". While I understand the inappropriateness of describing Obama's parents as fully as one would in a book for adults, it would have been smarter to just say, "... his father and mother".

Beck's radio show and TV program are very informative, but this book is way too thin on facts to be of much use to adult or child. Maybe Glenn Beck could explain to his viewing audience how it is that he recommended this book even though one of its heros is Obama!

In the end, I understand why one reader shredded some of its pages. I also agree with those who feel some of the chosen entries are merely interesting or famous, not heroic.

If you're Liberal, order it, but if you're Conservative, you might think twice.
